ABOUT

1995 Chicago Marathon

The 100th running of the Boston Marathon

Growing up in the 80's, Rogelio Quintanar caught the break dancing bug like most of the Chicago area teens.  However, since he wasn’t that good he decided to heed his friend's suggestion of joining the cross country team.  Even though he knew nothing of the sport the experience and the camaraderie among the team helped him fall in love with running.  He ran all through high school, competing in both cross country and track.

His modest success in high school caught the eye of several local colleges.  He eventually landed at Carroll College (University) where he lettered in both cross country and track.  One of the highlights of his collegiate running career was winning the 10000 meters at the WI Small School Championships.

Post college he ran for the Wisconsin Runner Racing Team for a couple of years before devoting his training to the marathon. He eventually moved up to racing at the ultramarathon distance and in 2016 ran the Western States 100.

In 2011 Rogelio completed the level 1 coaching class through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and received his coaching certification in 2012.  Since then he’s worked with runners of all abilities from all across the country. During his tenure he has helped runners qualify for the Boston Marathon and other World Major marathons, coached multiple regional champions, and coached teams and individuals to several state championship finals.
